Styles of Dance

Acro (ages 5 and up)

Acro Dance blends classical dance technique with acrobatic elements to build strength, flexibility, and control. Students will learn foundational acro skills such as backbends, walkovers, aerials, and cartwheels, along with proper terminology and safety-based progressions similar to mat gymnastics.

Classes focus on flexibility and core strength, balance and body awareness, safe skill-building and technique, acro choreography and transitions

Acro is ideal for dancers looking to expand their skills with a mix of gymnastics and cirque-style movement. We highly recommend pairing Acro with a traditional dance class (such as Ballet or Jazz) to support musicality, coordination, and performance quality.

Contemporary/Lyrical (ages 5 and up)

Contemporary and Lyrical dance blend elements of ballet, jazz, and modern styles to create emotionally expressive and fluid movement. These classes focus on musicality, storytelling, and connection to emotion, allowing dancers to explore their individuality through choreography that combines technical precision with freedom of expression. Contemporary often breaks away from traditional lines and structure, encouraging grounded movement, creativity, and dynamic energy. Lyrical emphasizes grace, control, and interpreting music through motion. This class is perfect for dancers who love to move with meaning and embrace unique, expressive styles.

Jazz (ages 5 and up)

Jazz is all about sass, energy, and style! Set to upbeat, feel-good music, this class combines sharp movements, dynamic footwork, and expressive performance quality. Dancers will explore a variety of jazz styles—from classic Broadway flair to funky, stylized routines—while building strength, flexibility, and precision through foundational ballet technique. Jazz encourages confidence, stage presence, and musicality, making it the perfect outlet for dancers who love to move big, perform bold, and shine with personality.

Ballet (ages 2 and up)

Ballet is a wonderful starting point for young dancers and provides a strong foundation for many other dance styles. Beginning as early as age 2, our classes introduce movement, musicality, and creativity in a nurturing, age-appropriate environment. As dancers progress, they explore barre work, jumps, turns, leaps, center combinations, and across-the-floor progressions—building strength, coordination, flexibility, and confidence. Ballet also supports posture, discipline, body awareness, and expressive movement, helping dancers grow both technically and artistically.

Hip-Hop (ages 5 and up)

This high-energy class brings the fun with fresh, funky choreography and dynamic movement. Dancers learn rhythm, coordination, musicality, and foundational Hip-Hop technique in an upbeat, supportive environment. Classes also emphasize teamwork, personal style, and confidence, while introducing proper terminology and movement safety. From grooves and footwork to freestyle and choreography, Hip-Hop encourages dancers to express themselves, stay active, and build stage presence—all while having a blast.

Musical Theater (ages 5 and up)

Dance to the unforgettable tunes of Broadway and beyond! This class brings together jazz-based technique, character work, and storytelling through movement. Dancers will learn classic Broadway choreography, explore stage presence, and practice how to act while they dance—combining facial expressions, body language, and timing to bring characters to life. Musical Theater Dance helps students build confidence, performance skills, and a flair for the dramatic in a fun, supportive environment that celebrates showbiz energy and creativity.

Tap (ages 5 and up)

Kids love tap—and so do Ms. Kay, Miss Christitanna, and Miss Kara! This fun and rhythmic class teaches dancers how to use their feet as instruments, combining coordinated footwork with musicality and timing. Dancers will explore patterns, rhythm games, and technique while creating sounds that match the beat of lively, kid-friendly music. Tap builds focus, timing, and precision, all while encouraging creativity and confidence. It’s a fantastic way for dancers to develop strong listening skills, express themselves through sound, and have a blast doing it!
